Brief biographies of the Board of Directors are set out below.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS
(i) Tapaas Chakravarti, aged 51 – Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Tapaas founded DQ Entertainment Ltd in 2001 and has been instrumental to the growth and success of the Group to date. Tapaas began his career with Sandoz India Limited (now Novartis, a Swiss multinational) and later joined STP Limited, an infrastructure company. Tapaas has held senior positions in sales and projects at Coats of India (a British multinational) and in his capacity as Head of Projects with Sriram Group, developed contract manufacturing activities. Tapaas is a member of several international educational and charitable organisations, which work for orphans, children with AIDS and provide education for the deprived. He also sits on the Board of the Indo-British Partnership and is a member of the Young Presidents Organisation. He is a science graduate and completed a Masters in Business Administration from BHU University.
NON - EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS
(ii) Rusi Brij, aged 52, Non– Executive Director
Rusi has over 25 years of experience in international business development, sales and marketing, project management and corporate planning. Rusi began his career with Living Media Limited, the leading magazine publishing house in India, before joining Sonata Software in Bangalore as Group Manager of Exports in 1986. He thereafter joined Satyam Computer Services Ltd in 1991 where he rose to the position of Executive Vice-President. He led the initial IPO of the company in May 1992 – the first ever IPO of a software company on an Indian stock exchange. He was instrumental in acquiring some of Satyam's largest customers, setting up many of their international operations, and also served as Chairman on several of their joint ventures. Rusi is currently Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hexaware Technologies, a NASDAQ listed global provider of IT outsourcing services. He has an MBA, with an advanced course from Haas School of Management, University of California, Berkeley and is a founding member of TiE, NJ chapter, a global India focused venture fund.
(iii) Theresa Plummer, aged, 63, Non– Executive Director
Theresa Plummer-Andrews brings to the Board over 40 years of experience in the creation and production of children's programmes. She began her career in theatrical agencies, before joining Portman Productions, first as Production Secretary then Production Manager. In 1986 she joined the BBC as Executive Producer of Children's Programmes with a mandate to search and acquire live action drama and animation, and seek out and develop new formats with independent animation houses. Her role was extended to Head of Acquisitions and Creative Development for BBC Children's International, responsible for BBC World-Wide while still retaining her role as Head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions of BBC TV's Children's Department.
(iv) Mr. Kunchitapadam Balasubramanian, aged, 64, Non– Executive Director
Kunchitapadam brings to the Board over 40 years of experience in international banking. During his 25 years tenure with American Express Bank, he held senior positions in marketing, credit and general management in several Asian and European countries. He was Country Head for Korea from 1988 to 1991, Country Head for India from 1992 to 1994 and Chief Credit Officer for Asia-Pacific and the Indian Sub Continent from 1994 to 1997. He was an Advisor to National Bank of Kuwait, the largest bank in Kuwait, between 1997 and 2001 and subsequently the Managing Director & CEO of ING Vysya Bank (2001–2002). Kunchitapadam is currently associated with GMR Group which undertakes development and operation of infrastructure assets in airports, roads and energy. He is a graduate in Commerce from the University of Madras and has completed the Advanced Management Programme from the Harvard Business School.
(v) Anthony B M (Tony) Good, aged 75, Non – Executive Director
Tony, brings with him over 40 years of varied industry experience. Tony has held eminent positions in large and multinational companies, both in the UK and India, and has a wealth of public market experience. Tony has served in a variety of companies representing different industry segments including Silver City Airways Ltd and British Caledonian Airways (Automation and Aviation), Temple Press Limited (Journalism and Public Relations), Grindlay’s Commercial Holdings Ltd (Banking and Finance) and Cox & Kings Limited (Tours and Travel). He was the founder of Good Relations (later Good Relations Group Plc – the first public relations company to be listed on London Stock Exchange), whose portfolio of clients included Laker and British Airways. Having successfully established Good Relations in the UK, Tony went on to establish Good Relations (India) Private Limited, which currently has offices in seven metropolitan cities in India.
Tony currently serves as the Chairman of Cox & Kings, UK & India, Good Relations India and Good Consultancy Ltd. He has also acted as a strategic advisor to the Board members of Marks & Spencer and Scottish & Newcastle, among others.
